Google Nexus 4 Review

Google Nexus 4

Google Nexus 4

THE NEXUS 4 is Google’s latest and the first flagship Smartphone to run its Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. This phone started selling online in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia from Nov.13 and was made available in retail stores from November end in Europe, Central/ South Americas, Asia, CIS and the Middle East. The price is affordable and the specification sheet very impressive. No wonder it sold out minutes after its release and has been showing ever since.

Design and Key Features

The Nexus 4 design is minimalistic. There are no keys or buttons on the front of the handset and instead consists of a single piece of glass across the 4.7in screen. The back of the device too comes coated in glass giving it a high-end feel. The Google Nexus 4 phone comes with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 4.7-inch 1280×768 display, 8 MP rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera and generous 16GB storage. The screen is curved at the edges to improve swiping from the device. It has built-in compatibility with Google’s accessory, the Wireless Charging Orb which is an inductive charging dock.

Performance of the Nexus 4

The Nexus 4 comes with an improved screen, faster CPU with 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, NFC and Bluetooth.  It is identified as a potential competitor to iPhone with Google planning to offer the device as an unlocked HSPA+ only phone. Photos taken with Nexus 4 are much better than the last generation. There is a significant improvement in Google Now – an intelligent personal assistant available for Google’s Android operating system. The device features the Android 4.2, while its competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 2 just received the Android 4.1.1 update.

Pros

  • Beautiful, elegant design
  • Excellent screen
  • Android 4.2
  • Unbelievable price

Cons

  • No expandable memory

  • Camera could be better

Verdict

The Google Nexus 4 has a disappointing battery life, no expandable storage, manages to compete with Samsung Galaxy S3 in terms of its processing power and screen. It also comes with the latest version of Android and features a high-end design that could challenge iPhone 5. If you are looking for a budget handset then Nexus 4 is the best Android Smartphone on the market.
