Barnes & Noble Company does not need any introduction. They are introducing their new Nook HD+ tablets. It is supposed to be a direct competitor for Kindle Fire HD. It is a great tablet, with a special classical touch. It will be available to the customers around the world from the end of October, 2012.

Design

Barnes & Noble’s Nook HD+ tablet is great to look and weighs nearly 0.69 pound. So light weight and sleek to look at, this tablet, has all the features necessary to make it a best seller. Advertised as one of the lightest tablet in the industry, it is nearly 5 inches wide, perfect for any pockets and easy to handle. The rubberized back chassis isn’t too smooth or slippery. On the top we have the volume rocker and the power/sleep button. A micro SD card slot and a 30-pin charging connector are found at the bottom. There is a home button at the bottom.

There is no Micro-USB port. Even the charging port is custom made, which can be charged only using a wall adapter that comes with Nook HD.  There is no HDMI port too. But, an extra adaptor can be purchased for $39 to avail the feature. The display screen comes with a 1,920 x 1280-pixel resolution and Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 processor. Barnes & Noble claims this tablet will be nearly 33% faster than the Kindle tablet. It has 1 GB RAM and fantastic SRS TruMedia speakers.

Performance of the Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ Tablet

Barnes & Nobile Nook HD+ Tablet’s design is very innovative. The GUI of the tablet is very easy to use with Library, Apps, Web and Shop apps on the Home screen. One major plus point is that Barnes and Nook tablet does not display any ads. The speed of the Tablet is quite satisfactory. There is no camera. But, all the other features necessary to read and download books and magazines work absolutely fine. The display doesn’t make our eyes get tired even if we read volumes in the tablet.

Streaming or downloading movies using Nook Videos is quite easy and pleasurable. Another impressive app in it is Article Viewer, which formats web pages and printed magazines to fit the size of Nook HD+. You need not scroll or worry about the missing sentences anymore. Zooming, changing text and colour everything is made easier than ever.
